The Bulletin - Week 17 - Humility, what's that?

Top Seeded Armadillos Crushed by ‘Nauts in BDFL Championship:

“Whoa Nellie!” The BDFL has its first female champion. What the so-called experts said would never happen in the Big DADDY Football League has come to pass, a woman – Allyson Edwards – has captured the biggest prize in Fantasy Football, the Grand Daddy Trophy. The Jugtown Juggernauts picked themselves up after a devastating loss in the Big Daddy Bowl last season, and charged through the regular season, peaked in the playoffs, and then destroyed the Top Seeded Duncanville Armadillos in the championship game, 32-9, to win the title. A.E.’s A.W. in Big Daddy Bowl XV not only puts a woman on the top of the pyramid in the BDFL, it also signifies one less member in the Null Set Club. The vict’ry puts Allyson in the lofty standing and life time designation of BDFL Champion. As for the loser of the Big Daddy Bowl, K.P. has a lot to be proud of for his outstanding regular season and his significant run in the post-season. However, he will remain – at least for another year – in the Null Set Club. As a consolation prize for the Armadillos, they pick up the “Toilet Seat Team of the Weak” award for scoring the lowest point total of the week in the final week of the NFL season. Others are saying the ‘Dillos choked on the big stage, but the Bulletin will not go that far, they just had some starters out and some bad breaks go against them when it mattered most.

Elsewhere in the BDFL in Week 17:

The Magic City Mayors closed out strong in the 2016 season with a decisive win over the Smoke Rise Woosiers, 33-21 in the Second Fiddle Bowl. In a battle of former roommates (1), Mark Burr and the Brookside Dogs closed on a high note – kinda like rocker Terry Torence – with a one-point vict’ry over the Commissioner in the $3 Bill Bowl. In the other BDCS bracket game, the Cheethas took care of the Fightin’ Slovaks, 28-13, in the Old Proverbial Bowl.

Meanwhile in the Mullet…

Bullets Prove They Belong – Roll to Big Mullet Title:

In a battle of former roommates (2), the Benton Bullets closed out the season with a championship of sorts. In fact, like his idol – Butch Jones – who was carried off the field after the Music City Bowl, Bullet was given a ride off the field after his team rallied to win the Big Mullet Series, with a climatic, 30-15, vict’ry over the Sloth Monsters in the Big Mullet Bowl down on the Gulf Coast. The win validates the hard work the Bullets put in, in 2016, and the fact that they are building, brick by brick, toward something big. It also proves beyond a reasonable doubt that the Bullets should have been in the Big Dance with a high-enough point total, but that one of the Division Winners got in because of a flawed system. However, the Bullets can’t complain (and wont) because they won the so-called *tainted title in 1997 with a losing record.

In other action…

In a battle of former roommates (3) the Fairfield Powersleds finally got the better of the Western Hills Wildcats. Jack’s bunch beat Jerry’s bunch, 35-22, in the Lower Feeder Bowl. In other action, way, way down in the Mullet Series, the Wooden Warriors closed strong with a 37-34 win against the Druid City Blitz in the Dirty Sock Bowl. And, the Gulf Coast Gamblers earned the Toilet Seat Team of the Year, with a 12-21 loss to the Pasco County Wizards, who are gussing-up their Tampa place in preparation to host a number of BDFLers in an impromptu BDFL, Central Florida Convention, for the College Football National Championship Game at Jeff Parks Field at Raymond James Stadium.

It’s all about the kids.”

In one of 2016’s biggest acts of sportsmanship, Jacob Burr drafted a phenomenal team in the 2nd year of the Jr.BDFL. He then gave that team to his brother Samuel Burr, who couldn’t attend the draft, but named the new, expansion franchise, the Preserve Onion Turtles. Jacob then took what players were left for his own team. However, he apparently kept pulling the strings – behind the scenes – for the Onion Turtles. In the Championship Game, the 2nd Annual Daddy Ball Bowl, the OT’s charged past the Birmingham Barn Burners (Jackson Barnes) to win the championship. So, Samuel will get to hoist the Jr. BDFL trophy at the BDFL’s Super Bowl Gala, if Jacob will let him.
