Bad to the Bone

b... b… b… b… bad. Bad to the Bone

On the day I was born, the nurses all gathered 'round, and they gazed in wide wonder at the joy they had found.
The head nurse spoke up, and she said leave this one alone. She could tell right away, that I was bad to the bone.

I broke a thousand hearts before I met you. I'll break a thousand more, baby before I am through.
I wanna be yours pretty baby, yours and yours alone. I'm here to tell you honey, that I'm bad to the bone.
I’ll make a rich woman beg. I'll make a good woman steal. I'll make an old woman blush, and I’ll make a young girl squeal. I wanna be yours pretty baby, yours and yours alone, and I'm here to tell you honey, that I'm bad to the bone.

b... b… b… b… bad. b... b… b… b… bad. b... b… b… b… bad. Bad to the Bone!

No reason… Except it’s awesome! Put it on the turn table, pop it in the 8-track, cue up the cassette, download it, find it on your phone, tune into Classic Rock… Google it. George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers.

Sick & Tired & ‘Naut Gonna Take it No More:

The Null Set Club roared in Week Three with five Null Set Teams rolling to big vict’ries in the BDFL. “I am woman hear me roar,” sang Helen Reddy in the 1970s and echoed by A.E. in 2016. The Jugtown Juggernauts rolled to an impressive 3-0 start in the BDFL with a convincing 31-17 vict’ry over the Smoke Rise Woosiers. Tommy Todd said in defeat that he is “all for” women’s rights and he believes that one day, in this fine land, a woman will become president. The Bulletin reports: It could happen.

Sick and Tired and Not Going to Take it Anymore:

Another Null Setter – The Druid City Blitz – served notice that they may make a run at the Grand Daddy Trophy this season. The Host with the Most (except for Dog) ran roughshod over the Bullets this past weekend, giving the Boys from Benton a big, old-fashioned A.W. The old Bullerino is staggering early in the season, but reminds everyone that they better pack a lunch if they wanna escape Benton without being hungry, as there are no fast food restaurants within 14-miles of town.

Sick and Tired and Not Going to Take it Anymore, Part 3:

In a Null Set Showdown on the Banks of the Five Mile Creek, the Slovaks bit the Dogs in a near-A.W., 44-26. Everyone associated with the BDFL is shocked by the early season performance of the Slovaks, especially after they drafted a kicker in Round One of the Progressive Priority Miller Genuine Draft. But, in the category of a "blind hog finds an acorn" type scenario, it appears that the Oak Mountain Fighting Slovaks are actually winning games this season. Will it last? Will ASlo rap his way to the Big Daddy Championship Series? Will Bratislava and Brookside rejoice with a hardy, “yoy, yoy, yoy?” Only time will tell, and yes… Brookside would be happier with a Slovak vict’ry than a Dogs win, even though they are technically the Brookside Dogs.

Armadillos Win to Continue Null Set Trend:

It’s one thing to just move into the Commissioner’s digs on Audubon Place in T-Town, but it is quite another to whip the Commish while you are there. Well, K.P. has done both in early season action in the BDFL. He continues to call the shots in the Presidental neighborhoot and he continues to “live to tell about it.” This Saturday, prior to the Alabama-Kentucky game, Prewitt is expected to be on the sidelines, not with the A-Club, and not with the “Friends of Sholly,” but with some sort of KFC Club to celebrate Kentucky Fried Chicken. The Bulletin has also learned that he will be in some sort of homecoming float. “They want me to be some kind of Barney Fife, some kind of sheriff or deputy,” said Prewitt. “I think they call it a big policeman or a Grand Marshall.”

Mildcats Maul Mayors:

The Bulletin is not done yet with the resurgence of the Null Set Club. The Bulletin would like to report that sources have confirmed that the Where Are They Now Wildcats have defeated the Magic City Mayors, 34-33. That’s the James Gang beating Mayor Arrington by one. They’ve gone from Fairfield to Rocky Ridge to Chicago to Vestavia to Boston and back to Birmingham and still have enough in the tank to show up each and every week for BDFL duty. Are they a model franchise? In short, no… but, J.J. keeps showing up even when you thinks he’s out of town.

Sloths Gut Gamblers, 24-12:

The Sloth Monsters “doubled down,” and doubled up the Gulf Coast Gamblers in Week Three. Mukes always agrees to play Breal down in Biloxi because the Gulf Breeze is kind to his old bones and broken knees. And, you can bet, the Son of Slim is not going to leave the coast empty handed.

Geezer Bowl Goes to Sleds:

Butch became a granddaddy so he really didn’t put much effort into his BDFL effort this week, and it showed as the Cheetahs were “shown the door,” by the Fairfield Powersleds, 33-19. But, congrats to Butch for becoming the first grand-dad in the BDFL (that we know about…).

Wizards Whip Warriors, 36-15:

Jeff Parks picked up a little bit of long overdue revenge (that we’re not going to go in to) on Jaimie Hand this past weekend in the BDFL. The Pasco County Wizards actually whipped the Black Creek Wooden Warriors, 36-15, in a game that was nearly as close as the final score would indicate, although Parks said it was “exactly” like the final score indicated, so you be the judge.

“It’s all about the kids,” Jr. BDFL Update:

Only after you read and remember the educational nugget below.

“It’s all about the kids” Educational Nugget:

George Thorogood (born Feb. 24, 1950) is an American (Legend) musician, singer, and songwriter from Wilmington, Delaware. His "high-energy boogie-blues" sound became a staple of 1980s rock radio, with hits like his original songs "Bad to the Bone" and "I Drink Alone". He has also helped popularize older songs by American icons, such as "Move It on Over," "Who Do You Love?" and "House Rent Boogie/One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", which became staples of classic rock radio. With his band, the Delaware Destroyers, Thorogood has released over 20 albums, of which two have been certified Platinum and six have been certified Gold. He has sold 15 million albums worldwide. Thorogood and his band continue to tour extensively and in 2016 celebrated their 42nd anniversary performing. If George could get a team in the BDFL, they would be called the Delaware Destroyers.

Junior League Update:

The Birmingham Barn Burners and the Winston County Walkers continue to pace the Jr. BDFL with undefeated records and spots at the top of the overall total points category through three weeks.
