The Bulletin
Week 7 Blame it on Bob and the Selma QB Club |

In the early
1990s, ESPN launched the “Sports Smash” on ESPN 2, “The Deuce.” It was
designed to be a quick sportscast. It failed. But “duece” graduates:
Rece Davis and Suzy Kolber live on… here’s The Bulletin -
disguised as "The Smash". Cheetahs Slam Bullets: This one was over after Thursday night. Butch
pounded the Bullets out of the gate. The old Bullerino never recovered,
but scored enough to avoid an A.W. by a few. Cheetahs win it 42-24. Commish Flexes: Iron Hand did get an A.W. The Commissioner’s
Grenadiers smoked the PowerSleds, 46-22. Jack limped away in anger,
while the Commish gloated on email, website and World Wide Web. Bandits Outscore Armadillos: In one of the closest games of the week, Old
Barry outscored Old KP. The Bandits did it with smoke and mirrors and a
fast Trans Am. The 'Dillos ended up as “road kill” despite their
competitive battle in a 38-35 ignominious defeat. Dogs Flip Birds: Hime Hand has a tradition of "double birding"
opponents. In Week 7, Mr. Mark Burr turned that around and used it
against the Freebirds. The Brookside Dogs topped Jaimie, 26-22, and the
F’birds had to walk - not fly - back to Fultondale on their elbows. Mayors Maul Mafia: The Dixie Mafia fell to the Magic City Mayors
this past week, 28-12, in a contest marred by red tape and red dice.
Mayor Arrington used his poker face and “ace in the hole” to keep the
Gamblers off balance, get their money, and get their money. Bellcows Best Biocats: 17-12 David Belrose took all his knowledge from
Saturday tailgating with the Hand Brothers and applied it to Sunday. It
worked. The Bellcows defeated the Western Hills Wildcats in a relative
snoozer, 17-12. Juggernauts Bomb Blitz: The Nauts got kicked out of top dollar seats
at Bryant Denny Stadium and had to move. The Edwards clan set up in
Section L, and their welcome there was tenuous. But, the 'Nauts funneled
that into a super performance on Sunday. The 'Nauts bombed the Druid
City Blitz by 20. Sloths Bury Bishop: The Hayden District Bishop Squad (HDBS) got
buried by the Sloth Monsters in Week 7. Mukes partied like it was 1999,
and Bishop fumed, and stammered, and acted like it didn’t bother him. JrBDFL Update: The kids are
alright. At least they got a lesson on the duece instead of “The Ocho,”
made famous by the Dodge Ball movie. |
