The Bulletin

Sometimes you really can't accurately describe what you can see in a picture in less than 20 words

From underneath a rock in Media Void

Living under a rock - To be oblivious, or ignorant, to what happens in the outside world. It is used to describe a person who doesn’t know something that any “normal” human being is supposed to know, usually in relation to recent events.

Media Void - A fictitious city in a fictitious country which is free from all types of media and information. Where everybody in the city-state wanders aimlessly around uninformed about everything from the news, to weather, to sports and politics.

Week 17 2018: The Grand Daddy trophy goes to the Mt. High Blue Deacons...

Heavy Duty! – Bishop Shocks the BDFL World:

“Up jumped the devil right out of the ground, or deacon,” said a BDFL insider. The Blue Deacons – to be exact – absolutely came out of nowhere in their (almost) inaugural season to win the coveted Grand Daddy Trophy and the BDFL Championship. It did not come easy for Bishop and his over-achieving Mt. High Blue Deacons. In fact, it was some real “heavy duty” stuff, as the Bishop Squad barely qualified for the Big Daddy Championship Series. They squeaked into the BDCS when other teams failed to qualify under the Bullet Rule. They side-stepped mine fields and cow patties on their way to the finals, and then dramatically won in the last regular season game of the season to pull off an unlikely come-from-behind vict’ry over the veteran, and more-seasoned Smoke Rise Woosiers. The game between the two Blount County teams was one of the lowest rated championship games in BDFL hist’ry, with all of the College Football Playoff games, and other holiday activities taking place. But, it was nonetheless, a thriller with the Heavy Duty Bishop Squad pulling off an amazing 36-27 win over the Woo Crew.

Sleds Catch Cats:

In one of the many “consolation” games in Week 17 of the NFL (and BDFL) season, the Fairfield PowerSleds defeated the Western Hills Wildcats, 28-20. Mad Jack Barnes enacted just a little bit of revenge on the James Gang for graduating before him at Alabama and leaving him with various cable and electric bills. Also, Jerry might have been the one most responsible for sending the leader of the Mean Machine into the veritable field of nursing home management. So, the moral of this story is (an mantra in the BDFL) “what comes around, goes around.”

Cheetahs Dump Dorians, 23-11:

The Southside Cheetahs wasted no time dispensing of the Altadena Dorians, 23-11, in the last week of the BDFL season. Barry was no match for Butch and his felines on the path to redemption after bitter disappointment in the first part of the BDCS bracket. Both teams were so ecstatic after the Orange Bowl, that their BDFL match-up was kinda, sorta, and afterthought.

Sloths Notch Official A.W. vs. Duncanville Armadillos:

The official score read 31-10 in favor of the Shades Creek Sloth Monsters over the Duncanville Armadillos. But, Mukes was just happy with the vict’ry and the fact that the final margin of vict’ry added up to 21-points, so it would go down in the official record books as an A.W. On the other side of the billiards tables, Prewitt was too busy mourning the loss of the Texas High School football championship by his beloved Duncanville Panthers on a last-second, Hail Mary, combined with a euphoric trip to Miami to hang out with the Hand Brothers (2 outta 3 ain’t bad) and watch the Tide Roll in the Orange Bowl, that he was just a little apathetic about a bottom-of-the-bracket game in the BDCS.

Meanwhile in the Mullet:

Down in the Big Mullet Series, the Brookside Dogs are the winners (NOT champions) of the “other” bracket. Mark’s Mutts established a firm foundation for a solid 2019, and a chance at their first BDFL Title by winning the consolation bracket. The Dogs defeated the Mayors in Week 17 by the final score of 29-15. Elsewhere… the Grenadiers outscored the Freebirds by a touchdown, 42-35. It was the Druid City Blitz getting past the Jugtown Juggernauts, 27-19, and the Benton Bullets rallied to defeat the Gulf Coast Gamblers, 19-9. Happy off-season everyone, and please stay tuned for information about “paying up,” potential changes in the league, amendments to the bylaws of the BDFL manifesto, off-season golf tournaments, weddings, and the Super Bowl Gala.

Heavy Duty – Part 2: A Bishop WINS the JrBDFL too! - “It’s all about the kids.”

In the Junior League, the 12-seeded Hayden District Bishop Squad is the new champion. In another unlikely Bishop Story (BS), Ezra’s team escaped the bottom two positions in the standings with a good stretch run, and locked down the final playoff spot, with the 12thseed. This is no BS, the Squad knocked off the 5th seed in round one, the 4th seed in round two, and then in the championship game, the Heavy Duty Bishop Squad out-lasted the 2nd seeded Winston County Walkers in a battle for the ages, 35-34. Congrats to the Heavy Duty champions of the JrBDFL.
