The Bulletin
Iron Hand asks The Bulletin, "When a picture is worth a thousand words, why use any words at all?"

From underneath a rock in Media Void

Living under a rock - To be oblivious, or ignorant, to what happens in the outside world. It is used to describe a person who doesn’t know something that any “normal” human being is supposed to know, usually in relation to recent events.

Media Void - A fictitious city in a fictitious country which is free from all types of media and information. Where everybody in the city-state wanders aimlessly around uninformed about everything from the news, to weather, to sports and politics.

Week 4 2018: So Take It Easy...

We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again. So, open up, I’m climbing in, so take it easy.” – The Eagles (circa, the 1970’s)

Brookside Dogs Come Out Barking in Week 4:

In the closest and most competitive and highest scoring game in Week 4 in the BDFL, the Brookside Dogs managed to claw their way to a two-point vict’ry over the Black Creek Freebirds, 41-39, on the road in Fultondale. Mark’s Mutts are trying desperately to erase 23-years of frustration in fantasy football, and what better way than to drop the Freebirds in full flight with their trusty .22. Meanwhile, Hime’s Southern Rockers have a decent point total four weeks into the season, but they are already in danger to missing the post-season under the dreaded Bullet Rule. The Freebirds are 0-4 on the season, and seem to have the lock on the early season $#!%-pot luck in the BDFL.

Da Blitz Falls From the Ranks of the Unbeaten:

The Fritz Blitz and their fans had their utopian season halted this past weekend. Jerry Fritz’s team began the season with an apparent rabbit’s foot in their back pocket, running and blitzing out to a 3-0 start, based more on luck than on actual skill. However, in Week Four it all fell apart for the Druid City Blitz. They had to make the trek up I-59/20 to Fairfield, and there awaiting the Blitz was the imminence front in the form of the Fairfield PowerSleds. The Mean Machine cranked up the metal, and cranked out a ten point win over the visitors, knocking da Blitz from the ranks of the undefeated and moving both teams records to a respectable – although not perfect – mark of 3-1 on the season.

Mayors Brought back to Earth by the Bullets and Bonehead Move:

Was it the Bullets, or the Bonehead, that culminated in the Magic City Mayors losing their first game of the season, and unceremoniously dropping from the ranks of the undefeated? The answer is slightly unclear. In all probability, it was a little of both. The Bullets scored 32-points (their highest one week total for the season). That amount would have defeated 9-other teams in Week Four. On the other “hand,” the Mayors scored 21-points but got zero from their quarterback. A.A.’s “Bonehead” move was not starting Marcus Mariotta, who scored 12-points, that would have given the Mayors a 1-point vict’ry. But, on average, everybody leaves a few points on the bench every week. Even the Benton Bullets in a win, played the wrong defense and missed out on 6-extra points. However, Alan has no one to blame but himself and he gets the loss, but in the process picks up the “Bonehead of the Week,” award.

Wildcats Knocked from the Undefeated, 37-17, by Dorians:

The defending BDFL Champs also saw their perfect season go up in smoke from their lofty New England bayside perch. The Greek-Slaying, tax-paying, law-abiding, red-tape-marking, marching Altadena Dorians laid waste to the Western Hills Wildcats on Sunday. The Dorians subdued the BioCats, 37-17, coming just one point short of an official A.W. Word is that the Dorians may ask for a re-count of some hanging chads in order to get an A.W.

Commish Remains Winless, Falls to Gamblers, 31-19:

The Mineral Springs Grenadiers can’t seem to find the end zone or their keys early in the BDFL season. Old Iron Hand can’t seem to get his old jalopy started or running in 2018. The problem could be that he couldn’t find his keys to his GTI, so he had to fall back on the old 63 chevy. Once he got the thing cranked and the driver’s side door “bungeed” shut, he tried to race the Gamblers. It turned out pretty bad for the Commish, as his team was embarrassed by the Dixie Mafia. Final score: Gulf Coast Gamblers 31, Mineral Springs Grenadiers 19.

Juggernauts Still Winless After Slipping to Sloths:

The Jugtown Juggernauts fell to 0-4 on the season with a tough loss to the Sloth Monsters in Week Four, 29-18. “They’ll be hell to pay on the assembly line at Honda this week,” said one of the spectators at Sunday’s game. To quote the Eagles again, Well, I know it wasn't you who held me down. Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free. So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we have the key.” So, The Bulletin can only read between the lines and try to put two-and-two together and figure out that the ‘Nauts are in trouble this season, but may possess their own way (the key) of eventually pulling out of it.

In Blount County Blood Bath, Blue Deacons Emerge Victorious:

Some move to Blount County for the serenity. Some seek the rolling hills of Blount County as a refuge from the sprawling development of the suburbs. Others have to go there because no one else will take them. In Week Four’s “Battle of West Blount County,” Anthony’s Heavy Duty Bishop Squad (HDBS) proved to be too powerful for the Smoke Rise Woosiers. The Mt. High Blue Deacons scored more points than any other BDFL team this past weekend, and easily out-distanced themselves from their Blount County contemporaries, 42-27. The Woo Crew was okay with the out-come in the fact that they really didn’t want to peak too soon.

Cheetahs 39 – Armadillos 24:

The Sin Wagon was rolling in Week Four. Butch’s band of felines ran right over the Duncanville Armadillos, picking up a 39-24 vict’ry in the process. The Southside Cheetahs were pretty happy after the game. Meanwhile, the ‘Dillos were left licking their wounds and trying to find out how best to turn their season around in a hurry. The Cheetah-man mentioned a trip to Valley Avenue might perk-up K.P. and company, and The Bulletin never heard another word from the victors or the vanquished.

WEEK 4 in the Jr BDFL - “It’s all about the kids.”

The Winston County Walkers made the “Free State of Winston” proud in Week Four in JrBDFL action. The Walkers scored a week-high 72-points in their vict’ry over the Lowndes County Labs. However, the Top Spot in the Standings still belongs in Lowndes County, no, not the Labs, but the Southpaws hold the overall point total lead after four weeks, and the only remaining undefeated team is the Benton Butterflies.
