The Bulletin
From underneath a rock in Media Void Living under a rock - By definition means to be oblivious, or ignorant, to what happens in the outside world. It is used to describe a person who doesn’t know something that any “normal” human being is supposed to know, usually in relation to recent events.
Media Void - Is a fictitious city in a fictitious country which is free from all types of media and information. Where everybody in the city-state wanders aimlessly around uninformed about everything from the news, to weather, to sports and politics.
Week 2 2018: For more money than you can “shake a stick at.”
Sloths Slay Brookside Dogs in A.W.
Fashion: In a battle of old roommates (which could
be said about a lot of the BDFL match-ups), the Sloth Monsters recorded
the only A.W. of Week Two with a through whipping of the Brookside Dogs
on the banks of the Five Mile Creek, on the wrong side of the tracks in
Brookside. However, there may not be a “right side of the tracks,” in
Brookside. There is no evidence as to whether Albert Reeves hit those
tracks in his “White Grenada with a Yellow Canoe” tied on top or whether
Mukes got to the Brookside Ballpark via other means. The only thing
The
Bulletin knows for sure, is that when Dog and Mukes’ BDFL game got
underway on Sunday, it got ugly early, and the Three Toed Tree Dwellers
came away with a big Week Two win over Mark’s Mutts. Mayors - a TD Better than Grenadiers: Old Cronies never die. They just find a
more laid back place to hang out. Submitted for your perusal, the game
between the Magic City Mayors and the Mineral Springs Grenadiers this
past weekend. The Bulletin staff scoured the Irish Deli, Upside Down
Plaza, and that place over by the railroad tracks that Bono allegedly
played at one night, The Nick. At any rate, no eyewitnesses were
available to even corroborate, that even a game took place between the
Mayors and the Commissioner on Sunday. Just before press time, an old
box score was found that illustrated that the Cronies had in fact
played, and defeated, the Mineral Springs Grenadiers by the final score
of 24-17. Blitz Grounds Freebirds, 35-31: The Fritz Gritz faltered and allowed the
Black Creek Freebirds to score 31-points. When they came with the “viper
blitz” up the middle, Old Bocephus hit ‘em with the screen. When the
Druid City dudes came with the “cobra blitz,” the Freebirds checked to
the slants. Jammin’ Jaimie Hand (see WVUA, Circa 1986) had a great
offensive day, it was a shame that the Freebirds defense let them down
in Week Two. The Druid City Blitz – on a day when the blitz didn’t work
– were able to “score at will” against the F’birds, and come up with a
big 35-31 vict’ry.
The Western Hills Wildcats – the
defending BDFL Champs – returned to Fairfield this weekend, and left
victorious after knocking off the homestanding PowerSleds, 32-24. Mad
Jack Barnes looked more like Jack Slovensky this past Sunday, getting
shot down by the once-Mildcats, who look like they might finally
actually have a clue as to how this fantasy football stuff works.
Apparently, to celebrate their vict’ry, the James Gang, went for a long
walk on a short pier somewhere in New England. Yes. New England.

Win: “One point short of an A.W.,” was the
exact same quote from Barry AND Allyson after this game on Sunday
afternoon at Ed Bruce Stadium in Gardendale. A.E. was troubled by the
loss, but she was relieved that it was by 20 points, 38-18, instead of
21. On the other hand, Barry was giddy with his first BDFL win, and just
could believe that his team fell one point short of an official
@$$-whipping. Both Barry and Allyson went to Big Al’s AND Burger King
after the game to hang out and act cool. Woosiers Beat Bullets 31-26: Not far up the road from Gardendale,
Tommy T.’s Smoke Rise Woosiers picked up a key early season Red Neck
Division vict’ry over the Benton Bullets by five points. The Woo Crew
has stormed out of the gate in 2018 seemingly disregarding their age-old
strategy to “not peak too soon.” As for Bullets, they are not shooting
straight early in the season, and blaming everyone in sight, mostly the
Evil Schedule Maker.* Just for the record, the Benton Bullets had enough
points in Week Two to defeat nine BDFL teams. In the immortal words of
Albert, “You sing it the way you wanna sing it, and I’ll sing it the way
I wanna sing it.” (Officially, in the BDFL online universe, it’s the
Dreaded Schedule Maker). Armadillos Stay Hot – Out Bluff the
Gamblers: Alert the media: Kurt Prewitt is
returning to T-Town this weekend to visit Harry’s Bar. K.P., Mo Sanford,
Jeff Oyster, and Barry Schollenberger will be signing autographs at
Harry’s on Saturday from 8:45 a.m. until 9 a.m. Prewitt’s Duncanville

Bishop Squad, 22-12: “I always like scoring 22,” said Butch in
reference to his old number at GHS, when he was a key back-up to Barry
Harrison. Meanwhile, the Mt. High Blue Deacons can’t score much, and
can’t seem to win a game in the BDFL. Maybe that’s why they were invited
into the league. It hasn’t realistically been much of a drop off from
the Slovaks. Note: Those of you
wanting info on Molly Hatchet coming to Montgomery. The date is Friday,
Oct. 19, at the Davis Theatre in Downtown. Note Two: *Albert was
referring to Kenny Rogers’ classic: You picked a fine time to leave be,
Lucille. Albert sang, “Four hundred children, and a crop in the field.”
(He wasn’t that far off.) After all… the Commissioner used to sing, “I
fell into the danger zone,” from Top Gun, instead of “Highway to the
danger zone.” And, one of my favorites from a Texas transplant and
former TV anchorwoman: “Wasted away again… and, I’m okay with it,”
instead of “Wasted away again in Margaritaville.” WEEK 2 in the Jr BDFL - “It’s all

weeks in the Junior League are below. WEEK 2 Scoreboard in the junior

Bulletin Secret Bonus: Question: How many Texas
A&M fans does it take to screw in a light bulb? Answer: 12, just like the 12th man. Three to have “yell practice.” Three to build a bonfire. Three to lock arms and “sway.” One to actually screw in the light bulb. One, to tell everybody how A&M has the greatest “bulb changing tradition in college football,” and ONE to check and see what Texas did. |
