Bootleggers get a new look

Bothered by the Fighting Slovaks  "old world" shield invasion to the BDFL in 2004, the Bristol Bootleggers gave a boot to their shield logo. The old Bootleggers shield with a boot, checkered flags, moonshine jug and a lighting bolt is now history. It's been replaced by the new oval mark with a skull and cross bones borrowed from the neighboring ETSU Pirates and the a pair of x's to mark East Tennessee's finest corn liquor. The lighting bolt to the head is also a reference to the Stillers white lightning home brew. Look for the Bootleggers new mark all across East Tennessee.

TheBDFL.com SPECIAL REPORT

Trying to get a leg up

With Fat Back at the helm, the Wood Bros. are feeling their whiskey...

for now

BRISTOL, TN- With the addition of Tomlinson, Davis and SW Virginia native Thomas
Jones, the Bootleggers look to dominate on the ground this fall. All three of these running backs got plenty of practice this summer running in the open field from the local SW Virginia ATF agents. As of now, none has been indicted, arrested or released. In fact, even the local ATF agents are talking about the addition of Fat Back McSwain who promised to have a potent offense. Rumor is that Fat Back has retrofitted the Big Black Dodge with a Wood Brothers Ford Crate engine reminiscent of the Wood Brothers glory days (with some extra fire water in the crate for the boys). When asked about Hasselback, Fat Back responded by saying "He's a great leader that doesn't' get his due". While many of the West Virginia Bootlegger faithful have expressed surprise that Hasselbeck can play football as well as play on Baywatch, they are still excited to have him on the team. Bootlegger management has acknowledged receiving many calls enquiring whether Pamela and Carmen will be at the games. Hasselbeck, however, is not discouraged by the lack of respect by the fans and the writers (Bullet), saying when asked if he felt like he would be able to pass the ball this year, Hasselbeck replied with confidence, "If I can swallow it, I can pass it". In addition to Jones, the Bootleggers have another Bristol metro local boy made good, Jason Whitten, whose jowls remind the Bootlegger faithful of the great Junior Johnson in the 28 Chevy. Bootlegger management expects Junior Whitten to dominate on the short yardage passing game the same way Junior dominated the passing game on the track in his hey day. Right now it is hard to tell if the Appalachia Moonshiners' euphoria is caused by the promise of a another good run at the BDFL title or a good batch of shine. But whatever it is, Wood says "it feels good".

Wood Bros. try to get it running right in '04

BRISTOL - With Fat Back McSwain as their new coach, Matt Hasselbeck calling the signals and LaDanian Tomlinson driving the #21 Woods Bros. Big Black Dodge, the Bootleggers are poised to be drinking East Tennessee's finest liquor at season's end. There is definitely a Tennessee flavor in the Wood Bros. arsenal with Nedney, Bennett (Titans) and Whitten (UT).

Wood Bros. strike back at The Bulletin

My representative has put together a good team. All that is left is for the Bootleggers to execute. I want to thank my sponsor Bruton Smith and my crew. We have run out front in our first two years in the league, it is time to take it to the next level and win the BDFL. The Bulletin's comments are crazy, I have a stellar line up to go with Tomlinson- Hasselback, Thomas Jones who will have a break out year is my third back! Carolina is one of the best Ds in the league and Nedney from Tennessee will score big every week- without George the Titans will be kicking field goals. The Wood Bros will regain the glory days of David Pearson in 2004!

Bootleggers set their sights on a winning record and a shot at the BDFL title

BRISTOL, TN - Since 2002 when the Good Ol' Boys joined the league, the Whiskey Runners have always gotten off to a fast start only to be caught in the end by the BDFL's finest. This could be the year that the Wood Bros. have the "Big Black Dodge" clicking on all cylinders throughout the entire season run. Bootlegging is a big deal in East Tennessee right along side of marrying your in-laws and banjo picking with no teeth, but look for their brand of "run and gun" football to spread like whiskey burning down Copperhead Road.
