Shaft Draft I and II - Distant memories for the Woosiers SMOKE RISE - The many conspiracy theories and allegations surrounding the Woosiers Shaft Draft I and II claims have been thrown out, trampled, destroyed and put to rest. We'll stick to the facts surrounding the Woosiers 2004 BDFL Genuine Draft... FACT #1 - Got to pick #1 overall when it could have been very easy to "shaft" him in the order. FACT #2 - Drafted Priest Holmes the 2003 Big daddy of the Year who scored 27 rushing TDs a year ago. FACT #3 - Got their man Chad Pennington at QB. Woosiers see Pennington as the BDFL's breakout QB in 2004. FACT #4 - No Muslims drafted. Gone are Az Hakim and Muhammad. Proof that the "shaft" was not premeditated. FACT #5 - With Duckett as their #2 back, the Holmes & Duckett combo is the best in the league on paper. FACT #6 - The 2004 Genuine Draft date was not moved on purpose to screw Woo.

Drafted first overall in the 2004 BDFL Genuine Draft, Chief Priest will try to lead the Woosiers to the title OLD WEATHERLY - With past Shaft Drafts as distant memories, the Woosiers scooped up Priest Holmes with the first selection overall and with him the vision of bringing home a BDFL title to Blount County. Never has optimism been so high in the hills of Hayden. The Hayseeds (Woosier fans) have been driving to Wayne's Package Store everyday to keep the celebration going strong. The Woosiers are also thrilled to get Chad Pennington who they had high on their wish list. I hate to jinx 'em, but I guess I will...this Woosier team should go wire-to-wire in 2004 with the right coaching. |
