The history of Jugtown

JUGTOWN - Back before progress came to North Jefferson County there wasn't a whole lot going on north of Birmingham. Sure you had a few beer joints and honky tonks on US Highway 31 (Hooten's for example) heading towards Cullman, but the real action was in the boonies where cock fighting and moon shining were thriving. This was before plastic jugs and glass was still fragile and undependable. The locals needed a better container for the South's finest corn liquor. So from this need sprang a jug factory built to supply jugs to the local entrepreneurs. The jug plant was so successful it drew workers to the area and soon a small town had emerged. That town was called Jugtown. Many years later after plastic and glass became more accepted, the jug factory was shut down and moved to the hills of East Tennessee. The town leaders seeking to change the past voted to change the name to Gardendale and the rest is history.

With Vick at the wheel, the 'Nauts could be riding a title Odyssey

JUGTOWN - As Vick goes, so goes the 'Nauts seems to be the theme surrounding the 2004 version of Jugtown's latest team. However, the BDFL experts see it a little differently. With a strong stable of backs, very underrated receivers and a quality kicking game, the Juggernauts can survive even without Vick. With Vick, this is the team to beat in the somewhat lame Yellow Hammer Division. A winning record may be all that it takes to advance to the play-offs and a chance at The Big Daddy Bowl.

The Juggernauts would love to still be drinking and dancing at the season's end with a Big Daddy Bowl vict'ry

Rice burning or bra burning, the 'Nauts look to be hot in 2004

JUGTOWN - After missing last year BDFL Genuine Draft the Juggernauts finished dead last in the BDFL. With the embarrassment comes a new commitment from the top to improve and make up for lost time. The 'Nauts 2004 season has been entitled "Quest For Fire" as the Jugtown faithful look for something to burn... anything... rice, bras, or even an old sofa would work. The key is to get fired up somehow and turn the sinking ship around.
