The BDFL News

The BDFL's Pabst Blue Ribbon Throwback Week

NASH VEGAS - The BDFL has always had great respect for the history of pro football. So much so, that the BDFL is the only football league that takes a whole week to honor the legends of the past with a Throwback Week. This season we'd like to welcome a quality beer from the past in Pabst Blue Ribbon as the BDFL's Throwback Week sponsor. Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer was an early staple for fan beverage enjoyment at pro football games and is still served in all BDFL stadiums on game day. PBR out bid Schlitz Beer, Colt 45 Malt Liquor and Schaefer Beer for the rights to the BDFL's annual Throwback Week.

THE BIG STORY

The unimaginable can  happen when the BDFL goes back to the future

WINDY CITY - The Chicago Bears may have only won four games in 1975, but they chalked up a monumental win for the ages in Week 8 of the BDFL as they defeated the once thought to be "undefeatable" '72 Dolphins 47-31 at the old Soldier Field in the Pabst Blue Ribbon Throwback Week of 2007. Da Bears were led by running quarterback Bobby Douglass (as played by Tom Brady) and the rookie running back tandem of Johnny Musso and Walter Payton. "We thought we could just roll our helmets out there and win” said Dolphins Head Coach Don Shula, “but going back in time and playing was tougher than we thought”.

Walter Payton, the rookie from Jackson State,  led da '75 Bears to a huge win in the BDFL's Pabst Blue Ribbon Throwback Week in Week 8
