The Mean

The story behind The Mean Machine

FAIRFIELD - On a hot August night in 1995 in a dark hot room at 303
Edgewood Blvd. near Green Springs, the BDFL was born. Seven teams
gathered together for the first BDFL Draft with another on the line from
Media Void. Team names were suggested by the Commissioner, Iron Hand,
and awaited approval by each teams. The PowerSleds, Condors and Mean
Machine were all strongly considered by the Fairfield franchise. The
Mean Machine from the Burt Reynolds movie "The Longest Yard" was the
early favorite but lost out to the PowerSleds in the end. However,
because of this close decision, the Mean Machine has always been
referred to and linked to the Fairfield team and the PowerSleds.
