The Dogs dominated all season long
NEW
ORLEANS
- In the Big Easy, the Brookside Dogs made it look way too easy.
Persistence plus determination equals domination. With an unstoppable
running game, plenty of quality depth that was needed and their patented
"Suck It" catchphrase, the Dogs cruised to their first BDFL Championship
Title in 24 years. An original member of the BDFL dating back to 1995,
the Dogs are the last founding franchise of the league's legendary
"Magnificent Seven" still playing to win the title and take home the
coveted Grand Daddy Trophy as the league's champion. No more "losing
streak" and "Null Set Club" jokes. Now when they say "Suck It, Bullet", they
will mean it and can back it up. Not only did the Dogs bring a
championship to their beloved hometown of Brookside, but they turned in
one of the best seasons in BDFL history and capped it off by totally
destroying the Mineral Springs Grenadiers (57-19) in Big Daddy Bowl XVIII. "I can't
recall a BDFL team ever going 16-1 and winning the title in such a
dominating fashion", said Iron Hand, The Commissioner of the BDFL, in
his conceding speech at the half. From Goose Alley to Tiger Hill and
from Sharon Heights to the Ball Park and everywhere else in between, the
entire Brookside Nation will be celebrating this one forever.
Congratulations to the Brookside Dogs on their first BDFL Championship
Title! Meanwhile in the Big Mullet Series (BMS) down at Perdido Key, the
highly favored Shades Creek Sloth Monsters avenged a roller coaster, hard-luck regular season to win
the 2019 Big Mullet Bowl over the Mayors (17-10) to secure the first
pick in the annual BDFL Pony Draft in April of 2020. Congratulations to
the Sloth Monsters as they try to follow the last two BMS winners to the
BDFL title next season.

The anatomy of the 2019 BDFL title
BROOKSIDE -
Like money, BDFL titles don't grow on trees and must be earned. Empires
are not built in a day. BDFL titles are built over time with the right
decisions at the right time. The results come slow and steady over 17
weeks until you seal the championship in the Big Daddy Bowl and walk
away with the league's coveted Grand Daddy Trophy. The Dogs were
11th in the Progressive Priority Draft clearing six (6) players, plus
the #1 overall Pony Draft Pick in Josh Jacobs. They drafted for nine (9)
roster slots on Genuine Draft Night. Passed on the Supplemental Draft at
#16, added one (1) player during the Waiver Wire Week and made no trades
during the year. They also lost their starting placekicker after the
trade deadline and vehemently petitioned The Commissioner for some
relief, but got no remand. This is a proven
championship formula. This is how the 2019 Brookside Dogs were
assembled. This is how it was done. The blueprint. Built by Brookside,
if you will...
