Pronounced
Damien Williams has Pronounced the Black Creek Freebirds #1 in Week 1 of the BDFL

Freebirds give Blitz one to remember

BLACK CREEK - Spelled with a bunch of Ys, Lynyrd Skynyrd had to explain how to pronounce the band's name with their first album in 1973 entitled Lynyrd Skynyrd (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd). The album was recorded mainly in April at Studio One in Doraville, GA. Four songs from the classic album remain among the band's most well-known: Gimme Three Steps, Simple Man, Tuesday's Gone and Free Bird. Most of the songs on the album had been in the band's live repertoire for years. The band had fine tuned their sound in a rural rehearsal space near Jacksonville named the "Hell House" due to the long hours spent there jamming in the intense Florida heat. It was there they wrote, played and perfected the songs that would lead to their Rock 'n Roll stardom. Producer Al Kooper didn't think Simple Man was strong enough to be on the album. The band felt differently, but could not change Kooper's mind. Ultimately, Ronnie escorted Kooper outside to his car and ordered him to remain there until the song was completed. The band recorded the song on their own and it subsequently became one of Lynyrd Skynyrd's most well-known tracks. The album's classic cover was shot on Main Street in Jonesboro, GA and features an all-star line-up: Leon Wilkeson, Billy Powell, Ronnie Van Zant, Bob Burns, Allen Collins, Gary Rossington and Ed King. Rossington is the last surviving member of Lynyrd Skynyrd. In Week 1 of the 2019 BDFL season, the Freebirds paid tribute to Skynyrd and their first album by profoundly beating da Blitz 45-25 at Black Creek Park while Pronounced played repeatedly in the stadium all day long. The RICKA Rule stops the whining

AUDUBON PLACE - "Well, if my starting quarterback hadn't got hurt". "So-and-so got cut for the salary cap". "Dumbass got arrested". We have heard them all and for way too long. Build a bridge and get over it. That bridge in the BDFL is the league's patented RICKA Rule. For the newbies, RICKA is an acronym for Released, Injured, Cut, Kicked-Off, or Arrested. If a drafted roster player falls under any of the above during the first two weeks of the season, you can drop him and add an undrafted player with no questions asked. Every once in awhile, some slicker will try to hoodwink The Commissioner, Iron Hand, about a player they don't want anymore, but trust me you don't want to try that.
