 Dog Days
Christian McCaffrey has been a hot commodity for the Brookside Dogs this season

Dogs stay hot to remain undefeated

FIELDSTOWN - Traditionally the "dog days" referred to the hottest, most sultry days of summer, usually July and August in the Northern Hemisphere. This year it seems the the "dog days" have been extended into the fall. The phrase "dog days of summer" actually has nothing to do with dogs, or even with the hot days of summer. Instead, "dog days" refer to the dog star Sirius and its position in the heavens. To the Greeks and Romans, the “dog days” occurred around the day when Sirius appeared to rise just before the sun in late July. These days just seemed to coincide with the hottest days of the year, a period that was believed to bring extreme heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever, bad luck, mad dogs and even devastation. Homer referred to Sirius as "Orion’s dog rising" and associated the star with war and disaster. The phrase “dog days” was translated from Latin to English about 500 years ago and since then the phrase has taken on new meanings. Some think this is the time of year when dogs can go crazy and they may be right. Over time, the true meaning has been lost, but the phrase still lives on. In the BDFL, the "Dog Days" refer to the start of the 2019 season when the Brookside Dogs went mad and destroyed all on-coming challengers (Grenadiers, Wildcats and Bellcows) to start the season undefeated (3-0). As long as it stays hot and the Dogs keep winning this will always be known as the "Dog Days" of the BDFL. The 2019 BDFL Supplemental Draft

TITLETOWN - The time has come to say fair's fair. To make a change. To give one back. To try again. Now that the RICKA Rule's two-week window has ended, the next chance to make a league sanctioned roster move, will be the 2019 BDFL Supplemental Draft following Week 7 action. Strategically placed at the halfway point of the BDFL's regular season, the Supp Draft is designed to fill in roster holes and provide team depth for the remainder of the season. There is always plenty of untapped talent available at this mid-point of the season that was either overlooked in other BDFL drafts, or new players who have suddenly burst upon the scene. The Supp Draft is a one-round email draft in the reverse order of the overall points standings after Week 7. The draft order is intended to help those in need the most and to give the lowly a punchers chance to finish the season with some dignity, plus make the league as competitive as possible for the next 10 weeks.
