2021 PONY DRAFT PROSPECTS |
|
#1
QB-Trevor Lawrence CLEMSON
The
Jaguars played the whole 2020 season to be in this position to
draft Lawrence. He will immediately be the face of the franchise
and their starting quarterback for at least 10 years.
|
|
#2 WR-DeVonta Smith ALABAMA
In a
dream world, reuniting the "2nd & 26" combo from the 2017
CFP National Championship Game would make for a great movie, so
we'll keep this wonderful idea going as well.
|
|
#3 WR-Jaylen Waddle ALABAMA
Can Bama
have the #1 and #2 receivers in the draft again for two straight
years? Of course, so we'll keep this going for as
long as possible. The Texans can't pass on the hometown kid.
|
|
#4 RB-Najee Harris ALABAMA
LeVeon Bell is bust in more ways than
one. We say he burns his bridge in New York (he did as
predicted) similar to what
Antonio Brown did in Oakland and New England. Harris is better
anyway.
|
|
#5
RB-Travis Etienne CLEMSON
The Chargers are still looking for a
replacement for Melvin Gordon and Etienne may be even better
than Flash. They should have a high enough pick to snag this dynamo.
|
|
#6
TE-Kyle Pitts FLORIDA
Pitts is a match-up nightmare for
corners, safeties and linebackers. Pitts will be coveted by the
first team in the 2021 NFL Draft who's looking for a starting tight
end.
|
|
#7
QB-Mac
Jones ALABAMA
The Titans are married to Tannehill for
the foreseeable future and will need a dependable back-up moving
forward. Jones is more talented than most realize, but the cat
is out of the bag.
|
|
#8
QB-Kyle
Trask FLORIDA
Trask has really improved his draft
stock this season andthe 49ers need a franchise quarterback for
the future. The 49ers were a quarterback away from a Super Bowl
title in 2019.
|
|
#9
RB-Chuba Hubbard
OKLAHOMA STATE
Hubbard would have been a high draft
pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but chose to come back to Stillwater
for his senior season. He's one of the most polished backs in
the draft.
|
|
#10
QB-Zack Wilson BYU
When you
are begging the XFL for quarterbacks, you know you have a
problem. Stafford is getting long in the tooth and David Blough
isn't the long-term answer in Motor City.
|
|
#11 WR-Justyn Ross CLEMSON
Ross slipped out of Alabama partly
because of Dabo, but also because of the depth in Tuscaloosa at
the receiver position. The Giants need playmakers and Ross fits
that bill.
|
|
#12
WR-Rondale
Moore PURDUE
Moore is lightning in a bottle. We see
him are the heir apparent to the role T.Y. Hilton has played in
Indianapolis for the last several years. Indiana boy on an
Indiana night.
|
|
#13
WR-Ja’Marr Chase LSU
Keeping this guy in Louisiana would be
another dream come true for the New Orleans Saints. Chase was
the Tigers best receiver last season and has all the tools to
excel in the NFL.
|
|
#14
QB-Justin Fields OHIO
STATE
It is
time to look past Tom Brady because it could happen on any play
these days. Fields is loaded with raw talent and Bruce Arians is
the Quarterback Whisperer, this match may work.
|
|
#15 RB-Jaret
Patterson BUFFALO
Devante
Freeman is gone and the Todd Gurley deal is just for one year,
so the Falcons may need a starting running back for the future
as they begin their great re-build.
|
|
#16
QB-Trey Lance NORTH DAKOTA STATE
Ben can't play for ever and Duck wasn't
the long-term answer either, so the Steelers take a flyer on a
tough kid from the FCS powerhouse who fits their culture.
|
|
#17
PK-Keith
Duncan IOWA
Duncan was the best kicker in the
nation last year, but got screwed out of the Groza Award by the
media and their darling. We expect him to win the award this
season and be drafted.
|
|
#18
WR-Chris Olave OHIO STATE
Beckham
isn't as advertised and Baker needs more dependable targets on
the outside. "Oil of Olave" will be a nice fit for the Browns,
which is still the worse organization in pro sports.
|
|
#19 WR-Rashod Bateman MINNESOTA
Thielen
is #1, Jefferson #2 and Bateman should be a solid #3 in
Minnesota as the Vikings take the local boat-rowing Golden
Gopher.
|
|
#20
TE-Pat Friermuth
PENN STATE
Friermuth is the second best tight end on our board and it seems somebody always takes a tight end late in the BDFL
Pony Draft. The Bengals still need more firepower.
|
|
#21
WR-Seth Williams AUBURN
Another
one that got away from his hometown of Tuscaloosa because of
Jeudy, Ruggs, Smith and Waddle. Williams has shined on The
Plains. The Jaguars could use his big play ability.
|
|
#22
RB-Patrick Taylor MEMPHIS
Memphis
is pushing out playmakers like a Power 5 school. Taylor is the
latest to join former Tigers - Pollard, Miller and Gibson in the
NFL. He elected to come back to move up the draft board.
|
|
#23
TE-Charlie
Kolar IOWA STATE
Name
Buffalo's starting tight end. You get the point. As the Bills
load up talent on the offensive side to compliment Josh Alllen,
expect a quality tight end to be in those long-term plans.
|
|
#24
TE-Matt Bushman BYU
Old Man
Kelce is just that, old. We predict Bushman plays behind the
legend for a couple of years and then he assumes the flex end
role in Kansas City once Kelce decides to hang it up.
|
|
#25
RB-Kenneth Gainwell MEMPHIS
Another Memphis Tiger to go early this
NFL Draft will be Gainwell. Las Vegas needs some depth behind
Jacobs and Booker and Gainwell could provide another option for
Gruden.
|
|
#26
TE-Brevin Jordan
MIAMI
Michael
Irvin will be pushing Jerry Jones and the front office on this
one and the Cowboys do need more talent at the tight end
position. Jordan is no Witten, but then again who is?
