Deacons win the Battle of West Blount County

MT. HIGH, AL - Back in the old days when most Americans lived on a farm of some type, wood was a main source of energy along with coal and kerosene. Wood was valuable since it heated the cabin, was used for cooking food, burning garbage and other necessities at the homestead. Wood was so valuable in these times that there was a special dry place used for storing wood called the "woodshed". The woodshed was usually located a good ways from the house since chopping and splitting wood was a noisy chore that usually happened in front of the woodshed. What happened behind the woodshed was entirely different and was not for the women and children to witness. Mr. Webster defines "woodshed" in two ways. First, as an enclosed roofed structure often an out building used primarily to store firewood. Secondly, Noah refers to "the woodshed" as a place where discipline, punishment and reprimands are administered. In the BDFL, we are usually talking about the later definition when we use the word. In Week 4, the BDFL's closest two teams in proximity (only a few miles separate Mt. High from Smoke Rise) squared off in the "Battle of West Blount County" for 365 days of bragging rights in one of Alabama's most scenic counties. With only six position players (they started two positions that were on their "off" week), the short-sighted and short-handed Blue Deacons took the Woosiers behind the ol' proverbial "woodshed" for a old-fashioned lesson in West Blount County politics and came away with an impressive 42-27 vict'ry. BDFL News

BDFL's 2018 Supp Draft is set for after Week 7 action

TITLETOWN - It's never to early to look ahead in the BDFL and the next time to improve your roster is the league's annual Supplemental Draft. The Supp Draft will take place after Week 7 action. This one round draft, in reverse order of the overall standings at the time, gives each team the opportunity to drop one player and draft a new one not already in the league. The Supp Draft happens at the midpoint of the BDFL's regular season and gives each team a puncher's chance to make a run and win a BDFL title.
