BDFL's long-standing RICKA Rule works
TITLETOWN
- What does Ricka mean? "Ricka" is an
old German name meaning "Power of the Wolf". Like in the story of
The Three Little Pigs and other old folk tales, the Big Bad Wolf has
become the generic archetype symbol of the menacing predatory antagonist
of the BDFL. RICKA (in all caps) is an original acronym used in the BDFL
for
a player who has been Released, Injured*, Cut, Kicked-Off, or Arrested.
The "RICKA Rule" allows any and all teams to drop such players taken during the
BDFL's annual Pony and Genuine drafts and replace them with an undrafted player
with no questions asked.
Over the years, the RICKA Rule has salvaged many a BDFL team from the proverbial scrapyard
early in the season and given them a fighting chance at a title in the highly competitive league. This patented "safety net" is good through
Week #2 action with all transactions finalized before Week #3 starters
are due to WARTS.
Rickey Williams is the league's poster child for the RICKA Rule beating
out Lawrence Phillips in a very close race. Here are the RICKA Rule transactions for the 2018
season thus far...
