Crane Kicked

Former Tider Damien Harris has been a big part of the Sloth Monsters five-game winning streak

Beware of The Legend of Shades Creek

EAST BESSEMER, AL - The “crane kick” is a fictionalized version of the Mae tobi geri. The move created by Conor Duffy for the classic film The Karate Kid (1984). The move is taught by the character Mr. Miyagi to Daniel LaRusso and eventually used in the final scene against his arch rival Johnny Lawrence of Cobra Kai. The move involves a one-legged karate stance and launches into a flying jump-kick. The movie became synonymous with karate in the United States in the 1980s and helped popularize martial arts in America. During the 2021 college football season, a pair of Alabama Crimson Tide wide receivers (Jameson Williams and John Metchie) brought back the “crane kick” stance as their touchdown celebration with the underlying meaning that we're about to kick some tail. In Week 13 of the BDFL season, Bama crane kicked the Georgia Bulldogs 41-24 to win the 2021 SEC Championship in Atlanta and the Sloth Monsters crane kicked the Blue Deacons up and down the banks of treacherous Shades Creek to win 33-21 and keep their remarkable winning streak alive. After starting the season 2-6, the Sloth Monsters have now rattled off five straight wins and at 7-6 are on the cusp of being eligible for the 2021 Big Daddy Championship Series (BDCS). This winning streak is a warning cry to the rest of the BDFL from here on out…Beware of The Legend of Shades Creek.

The Contenders

Can Carson Wentz, Colts keep up momentum vs 49ers? - Sports Illustrated

Carson Wentz has the Cheetahs at 11-2, but a low point total could leave them out of the BDCS

10 BDFL teams still have a shot at the title

TITLETOWN - In the BDFL, you typically have the predenders and the contenders. This year is no different. However, this season there seems to be more contenderrs than usual. After 13 weeks of regular season play and with just two weeks left in the new 15-game regular season, 10 teams still have a mathematical shot at the Big Daddy Championship Series (BDCS) and a chance to win the 2021 BDFL Championship Title and take home the coveted Grand Daddy Trophy. The six teams that have been eliminated from the quest for the title due to their won-loss record are the Bullets, Armadillos, Juggernauts, Bandits, Bellcows and Dogs. These clubs have already made their reservations for the Big Mullet Series (BMS) on the Gulf Coast. With two weeks left in the regular season, eight wins becomes the goal to be eligible for the BDCS. The four division winners will get automatic bids and the four wildcard teams will come from the next four "highest" point leaders with at least eight wins. All eight teams will be seeded #1 through #8 based on point totals in both the BDCS and the BMS. If the season ended today only six teams would be eligible for the BDCS, so these next two weeks will be critical to how the BDFL's 2021 post-season shakes out.
