The Wildcats take down the Dixie Mafia

BILOXI, MS - When playing high stakes card games in thick, smoke-filled backroom casinos, a wild card can turn the table in a split second and cripple the whole operation. In high stakes poker which in many cases is played in the BDFL on a weekly basis, you can get burned by a wild card at any moment. In Week 7 of the BDFL, the Dixie Mafia had been dealing from the bottom of the deck all night long at the Beau Rivage and the Gambino was feeling pretty good about their take. So on the last hand of the night when "five-card stud - no limit" was called, the "house" decided to deal from the top of the deck to give the visiting James Gang a fightin' chance. The Wildcats meekly requested that "deuces and one-eyed jacks" be "wild" on the last hand and the Gambino politely obliged and pushed all his chips to the middle of the green velvet setting up a classic casino royale finale. As the cards fell to the table, the Gambino was starring at a pair of suicide kings. He knew he had been had way before the Wildcats pulled a one-eyed jack from the hole to hit a straight. The Wildcats walked away with a big smile, all the chips and a big 46-24 BDFL victr'y on the Gulf Coast.

Irv Smith is no longer on a BDFL roster and Minnesota was off in Week 7 yet he was a starter

Bye weeks in the BDFL can be challenging

TITLETOWN - We'll admit that "bye weeks" in the BDFL can be challenging with teams off and players not playing. However, this is why we draft 16 roster spots to help field eight starters each week, no matter what. In Week 7 of the NFL schedule, the Bills, Chargers, Cowboys, Steelers, Jaguars and Vikings were all off which is a lot of teams being off and this can put a strain on a BDFL starting line-up. We're not naming any names here, but at least four teams in the BDFL started players, or a defense, that were not playing in Week 7. One team actually took it to aother level by starting a player they had dropped and he was off as well. The new WORM Rule was designed by the Commissioner of the BDFL, Iron Hand, to help with overall roster management. The moral of this story is to check the teams that are off from Week 8 to Week 14 and don't start players that aren't playing. Once every team masters bye weeks, we can move on to the weekly injury reports.
