Texas Showdown

Fantasy start or sit Week 12: Ryan Tannehill, A.J. Brown, Corey Davis - Page 4

Big Spring's (TX) native son Ryan Tannehill gives the Bandits a fighting chance in any shootout

Bandits upset Armos in an instant classic

DUNCANVILLE, TX - This one had all the makings of a classic Hollywood “cowboy shoot ‘em up” from the early 1960s. The independent-minded Texans were to defend the local mission church/fort against the invading Bandidos from the South. John Wayne was cast to star as a crusty cowboy turned last-stand soldier (Johnny Crocker) in an epic Western entitled “Texas Showdown”. A young Charles Bronson was cast as the bad guy leader of the Bandidos (El Toro) with very few lines, but he was to look tough and resilient in every scene. It was to be filmed south of Dallas in rural Waxahachie to give it a true Texas authenticity. The movie script called for a bunch of small skirmishes with each side winning a few each. The climax of the film called for El Toro to kill Crocker in hand-to-hand combat after both sides had run out of ammo and then the Bandidos would seize the mission church/fort for a surprising twist at the end. Wayne didn’t like the script’s ending, nor could he fathom losing a fight to Bronson on the silverscreen, so he turned down the part. Devastated by Wayne's decision, Paramount Pictures pulled the plug on the project and turned the movie's budget and their attention to the future of colored motion pictures and the development of streaming technology. In Week 10 of the BDFL, it wasn't a banner week for the State of Texas. The Bandits invaded Duncanville and upset the homestanding Armadillos 32-31 in a BDFL instant classic.

Michigan State RB Kenneth Walker III once again proves he's 'not an average player' - mlive.com

Tracking future stars like Kenneth Walker has helped increase the overall appeal of TheBDFL.com

The BDFL is growing in cyberspace

TITLETOWN - The BDFL has come along way since its humble beginnings in 1995. Over the last few years, the league's official website (TheBDFL.com) has grown in interest, unique content and web traffic. If you haven't noticed, this season TheBDFL.com got a facelift in the form of a new 1,000 pixel-wide design. The new site features the league's new block lettered logo at the top, a new league color scheme (industrial gray, old gold and black) and a more simplified navigation format. Along with the league's first worldwide corporate partner (Synaflex Rubber), the BDFL has expanded their reach and overall appeal. In 2006, TheBDFL reached 2,285 unique viewers. In 2020 the league reached a new high with 5,958 uniques. In the month of October 2021, the website hit an all-time high reaching 1,014 different viewers in a calendar month. The previous two watermarks were 1,000 uniques in February 2020 and 939 uniques in October 2015. We could get into more healthy web metrics for the site like number of visits, page views, hits, bandwidth, etc., but we'll not into boring copy. The new 2021 website features several new features including Email, Internet, Twitter and Instagram icons with click-thru hyperlinks towards the bottom of the home page and a cool "back to the top" link built into TheBDFL.com banner at the absolute bottom of each page for your browsing convenience. The website has also added past season archive links near the bottom of the Iron Hand page. TheBDFL.com "Growth Chart" graph below shows the website's ups and downs over the years. 2016 was an anomaly based on the league's computer system crashing and the crackpot IT department's strike. We expect and predict 2021 will be a banner year for TheBDFL.com and that the site will reach a record 6,000 total unique viewers this year. Thank you for helping make TheBDFL.com a leader in the industry.
