Texas Tech's explosive wideout
Michael Crabtree was the most coveted Pony in this year's BDFL
Rolling Rock Pony Draft stable of studs coming into the league
in '09 |
Sloths get their
"Tree" from which they hope to hang a second BDFL title in 2009
FOXBORO
– The 2009 Rolling Rock Pony Draft was a roller coaster that the
Fighting Slovaks chose not to ride as the Sloth Monsters crawled
away with the draft's most coveted prize in Texas Tech's
explosive wideout Michael
Crabtree. Other star-studded picks included: QB-Matt Stafford to
the Slovaks, RB-Knowshon Moreno to the Grenadiers, RB-LeSean McCoy to the Blitz and RB-Beanie Wells to the Cheetahs to round out
the first five picks. Some big time sleepers in this year's crop could be RB-Rashad Jennings to the PowerSleds and RB-Javon "The" Ringer to the Mayors. Others Ponies drafted this year that could have a
big impact in the fall could be QB-Mark Sanchez with the
Bootleggers, WR-Jeremy Maclin with the Wildcats, WR-Percy
Harvin for the Dogs and WR-Kenny Britt to the Woosiers or RB-Donald
Brown
with the Wooden Warriors.

The Pony Draft
A movement a float
to build your fantasy team long- term with your Pony picks
By Mel Kiper, Jr.
FOXBORO
- Think about building the core of your fantasy team one pick at a
time with the Pony Draft. Stick it out with Matthew Stafford for a
couple of years and the Fighting Slovaks could have an All-BDFL
quarterback. The idea is to keep your Pony picks and after a few years
you will have assembled your own team based on your own drafting
skills. It's just a
concept for now, but look for many leagues to use this keeper type
system to build team continuity and speed up the regular drafts over
time. With this system, you would not get to keep the players you
don't want, but could keep the ones you wanted to keep. The others
would just go back into the regular pool. You would also have to
give up some draft picks for the players you keep based on their
skill level. Let us know your thoughts and concerns on this movement.
