DaBlitz drops the Big One on the BDCS

LAKEVIEW - From the outset when you hear The Sweet's lead singer Brian Connolly ask all the band members individually if they are "ready", you know this is going to be a different tune. The song sounds like something out of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but that flick wouldn't come out until a couple of years later in 1975. Recorded in 1973 and released in 1974, The Ballroom Blitz was light years ahead of its time and if you were into glam rock back then, you were ahead of your time as well. The song was inspired by an incident while the band was on the road performing at the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock, Scotland and were driven offstage by a bottling. And yes, a bottling is what you think it is and they don't just happen in Honky-tonks. To verify the song's fame, it has been covered by 11 different bands and artists over the years including heavy metal's Motörhead and by Tia Carrere in the Wayne's World movie back in 1992. The song reached #1 in Canada, #2 in the England and Australia and peaked at #5 in the United States on October 17, 1975. It tied Fox On The Run as the band's highest charting song in America. In Week 15 of the BDFL (in the most improbable year since 1944), the #8 seeded Druid City Blitz crashed the BDFL's Big Ballroom Dance and dropped the "Big One" on the top-seeded Southside Cheetahs in one of the most bizarre endings in BDFL history. A 41-41 thrilling overtime vict'ry for the Gritz Blitz which was only possible because of a late onsides kick that was returned for a touchdown with :34 to play that led to an "oh by the way" extra point that tied this game. A 48-yard field goal proved to be the tie-breaking difference maker in a BDFL classic for the ages. The PowerSleds, Bellcows and Armadillos also advanced in the BDFL's Big Daddy Championship Series (BDCS) and will now battle it out for the 2020 BDFL Championship Title. And the man in the back said, "Everyone attack" And it turned into a Ballroom Blitz. I've said it before and I'll say it again... Every point matters in the BDFL. The Sweet never got their due as one of the best rock bands of of the 1970s, but this one validates it. Here is The Ballroom Blitz by The Sweet (1974)

TITLETOWN - Week 16 has always been set aside for the playoff semi-finals ever since the BDFL began play back in 1995. The winners of the semi-final match-ups will advance to Big Daddy Bowl for a shot at the 2020 BDFL Championship Title. Three of the top four seeds, the #2 PowerSleds, #3 Bellcows and #4 Armadillos all won their first round games to advance in the BDFL's premier post-season and will join the surprising #8 Blitz in the semi-finals of the Big Daddy Championship Series (BDCS).
