Bellcows answer the Throwback Bell
TINSELTOWN
- Each season the BDFL turns back the clock with an annual Throwback
Week to honor something nostalgic from the good old days.
Usually something from the formative years that involves football teams
from the past in some sort of way. Last year it was NFL vs. WFL team match-ups from 1974 that
we were denied in our youth. This season the BDFL honored teams from
some of the best football movies from the past and one team
(Philadelphia Bell) that Walt Disney simply left out of the
Invincible (2006) movie. This season the BDFL represented teams
ranging from real-life and fictional high school squads (7) to
make-believe college football programs (2) to fictional pro clubs (5) to
one former WFL team and one jailhouse gang. Next year, the BDFL is
looking to honor fictional teams tied to 1970s Southern Rock acts, i.e.,
Allman Brothers Band = Statesboro Blues, you get the idea. Get your suggestions in now for
2021. In BDFL Throwback Week 2020, the Fieldstown Bellcows repped the
WFL's Philadelphia Bell who defeated the Texas State Fightin' Armadillos
(49-25) from the Necessary Roughness (1999) comedy repped by
the BDFL's Duncanville Armadillos. Birmingham's own Woodlawn Colonels
(Shades Creek Sloth Monsters) were a late addition to the BDFL's 2020
movie mix with the over-dramatized Woodlawn (2015) flick, but
were star-struck and fell hard to Goldie Hawn's Central Wildcats
(Western Hills Wildcats) from the Wildcats (1986) film, 33-20.

Take your annual BDFL
Supplements
METROPOLIS - Noah Webster defines the noun "supplement" as something added to
complete a thing, supply a deficiency, or reinforce or extend a whole.
In the BDFL, Iron Hand defines the league's "Supplemental Draft" as an
event to cull a player, or players, and replace them with an undrafted
player, or players, to improve your team's lot and try to compete better
in the second half of the BDFL season. The 2020 BDFL Supplemental Draft will take place via a
league-wide email draft from worst to first in the total points
Standings after all the Week 7 scores are final. This is usually just a
one round deal, but we will probably push it to two rounds due to COVID-19 and
to give all teams a fighting chance to be more competitive this season
since the BDFL
frowns on excuses.
Here
are the Top 56 players available for the BDFL's 2020 Supplemental Draft
according to the league's media experts...
