The BDFL
embraces the league's Grand Finale
TITLETOWN -
Mr. Webster defines "grand finale" as a very exciting, thrilling, or
impressive ending to a performance, or show. You know, like the ending
flurry of a Fourth of July fireworks show above Vulcan, the final encore
of the Grand Ole Opry
at
the Ryman, or one of those curtain calls at a New York City Broadway play. In April 2017, NASA's Cassini spacecraft began
writing its final, thrilling chapter of its remarkable 20-year-long
story of exploration, called the "Grand Finale". Every week for five
months, Cassini dove through the gaps between Saturn and its rings. No
other spacecraft had ever explored this unique region of outer space.
During its final orbit, Cassini pierced through Saturn's uppermost
atmosphere, before finally plunging spectacularly into the planet's
surface on
September 15, 2017 for an out of this world grand finale. Based on Week 16 action, the
BDFL's Big Daddy Championship Series (BDCS) is
finally down to two surviving teams (the Western Hills Wildcats and the
Black Creek Freebirds) and its own version of a "Grand Finale". To
finish up the 2017 BDFL season in Week 17, one team will assend to league
stardom with all the glory of a BDFL Championship Title and the coveted
Grand Daddy Trophy, while the other will plunge to defeat and their
season will become just another lost footnote in the annals of BDFL
history. Congratulations to the Wildcats and Freebirds for advancing to
Big Daddy Bowl XVI
with monumental wins in Week 16. This
Big Daddy Bowl match-up has all the
makings of another classic BDFL title battle. The Big Mullet Series (BMS)
also had a great week with five of the top six scores in Week 16.
Tune-in next week, same bat-time, same bat-channel for the BDFL's 2017
Grand Finale. Thank you all for another great year in the BDFL!
