NORTHPORT,
AL - "Death-defying"
is an adjective that was first used in the late 1600s. It is
formed by compounding the words "death" and "defying".
"Death-defying" is most commonly used to refer to someone willing to
face, or risk, death. It is also defined as something
very perilous that involves a lot of danger. Something that looks very dangerous to do,
or to attempt to do, is also considered to be death-defying. The
earliest known evidence for the usage of "death-defying" is from
1676 by R. Shotterel and T. D'Urfey. The tightrope
walkers who walk between New York City's skyscrapers on a one
inch cable is a good example of a death-defying feat. Harry
Houdini and Evil Knievel created a lot of excitement and both made
a great living doing death-defying stunts, yet neither died from
these death-defying feats.
People are fascinated and can be emotionally drained by
death-defying events both at the same time.
In Week 6 of the 30th season of the BDFL,
there were some death-defying events inside and outside the
league. The PowerSleds plundered da Blitz, the Wildcats ambushed
the Armadillos, the Bandits cruised past the Nauts, the Vulcans
scorched the Grenadiers, the Cheetahs ran over the Sloth
Monsters, the Bullets shot down the Freebirds, the Bellcows
plowed the Gamblers and the Dogs mauled the Mayors.

The Lions stole

The BDFL explores a another
world
|
|
PARALLEL UNIVERSE - A parallel universe is hard to get your head around,
but just like history has a way of repeating itself, the other
universes out there repeat what's going on here and didn't want to be left out of the BDFL's
annual Throwback Week. In
our Parallel Universe, some
things are eerily similar to Earth and our solar system, but due
to random selection and other physics factors, everything is
just a little off from our planet.
The BDFL doesn't just merely exist
in this Parallel Universe, it thrives there. We can’t explain
everything out there in this other "Twilight Zone" world since we
only get to see a few snapshots of it from time to time, but it
is still out there. In Week 6 of the 2024 BDFL season, the BDFL
teams on Earth represented their counterparts in the Parallel
Universe with a week of games for the league's annual Throwback
Week. In these Week 6 BDFL out-of-this-world match-ups, the
Gunners
shot down the 22s, the Stones rocked the Graybacks, the
Legends buried the Undertakers, the Darkhorses ran past the
Sturgeons, the Spirits spooked the Jubilee, the Miners plundered
the Salamanders, the Gladiators split the Atoms and the
Extremists blasted the Astronauts. For more
details on the BDFL teams in the Parallel
Universe visit Iron Hand.
