Wizardz Winnerz

The great and glorious Wizardo returns to the BDFL in 2026 with his weekly game progostications

Wizardz Winnerz is back for another run

MIDDLE EARTH - He's back! To the surface. The great and glorious Wizardo is returning to the BDFL to resume his thrashing of the Evil Las Vegas Oddsmakers (ELVO) with his undeniably brilliant "prognosticatory" skills during the upcoming 2026 BDFL season. ELVO and their crafty staff of number-crunchers will research and handicap the BDFL match-ups each week and publish the official lines/spreads. Then on TheBDFL.com's Wizardz Winnerz page, each weekly BDFL match-up will contain a witty blurb and prognostication from the "Great One" with two, or three, games (at the Great Wizardo's sole discretion, of course) receiving a more in-depth prognostication. The gauntlet has been thrown down. May the best man win the BDFL's 2026 Prognosticator of the Year (POTY) Award.

Week 2 - Match-Ups/Latest Lines
VUL @ DOG (-2.5) ARM @ MAY (-2.5)
BUL @ CHE (-2.5) BAN @ BLZ (P)
BEL (-1.5) @ GRE GAM @ PS (-3.5)
SM @ WIL (-1.5) FRE @ JUG (P)

Week 2

Bandits v. Blitz

Growing up, Barry Stephenson had the unique ability to convince you whatever he was doing was the place to be. Case in point, Barry made cleaning floors and restocking shelves at Food World in the dead of night seem like the greatest thing since slice bread. Of course, with David Trawick providing comic relief, Barry (as always) was probably right.

Wizard’s Winner…the Bandits.

Vulcans v. Dogs

Nicholas Hand and the Bama Hammers, who based on his roster was armed with his Dad’s infamous “B” list at the draft that still lists Irving Spikes as the Dolphins “go to” running back, will be hunting a nail to whack when they visit Mark Burr and the defending BDFL champion Dogs. Unfortunately, they’re more likely to smash their collective thumbs than anything else.

Wizard’s Winner…the Dogs.

Gamblers v. PowerSleds

Legend has it (i.e., the legend likely originated in the fertile mind of the Great Wizardo) Kenny Breal and the “Ragin’ Cajuns” were born in the backseat of a Greyhound bus rollin’ down Highway 41 in southeastern Mississippi, but will soon learn the only thing available for the trip home will be the “struggle bus”.

Wizard’s Winner…the PowerSleds.

Bullets v. Cheetahs

Butch Neal and his “Flirtatious Felines” hope to give Bullet and the “Hillbilly Hooligans” a bad case of “Cat Scratch Fever” prior to their departure Sunday evenin’. And the way the Wizard figures it, that would be a helluva’ lot better than what the Bullets could catch after a roll in the hay with the Cheetahs.

Wizard’s Winner…the Bullets.

Armadillos v. Mayors

The Wizard says the only guy that made dancing awkwardly look especially cool was the lead singer for Midnight Oil in the Beds Are Burning video. It was basically a six-foot six, bald guy flailing his arms with spasmodic jerks thrown in for effect. Though perhaps Patrick Dempsey performing the African Anteater Ritual in Can’t Buy Me Love was a close second.

Wizard’s Winner…the Mayors.

Bellcows v. Grenades

David Belrose and the “Belchin’ Bovines” head south I-59 to T-town where, if he can find time away from polishing Nick Saban’s statue, The Commish and his “Grain Sprang Grenadiers” will be in full battle array awaiting their arrival. Unfortunately, the Bellcows will find it tough to turn the home teams flanks and will find themselves in full retreat by nightfall.

Wizard’s Winner…the Bellcows.

Sloth Monsters v. Wildcats

The Great Wizardo, who only addresses himself in the 3rd person as is true of all great prognosticators, fondly remembers the days of a misspent youth when one of his Saturday mornings cartoon favorites was Josie & the Pussycats about an all-female band. Think Archie except with Betty and Veronica and no Jughead, Archie or Reggie. Of course, the potential double-entendre of the band’s name went completely over a youthful Wizard’s head. As did most everything else, for that matter.

Wizard’s Winner…the Sloth Monsters.

Freebirds v. Juggernauts

With a keen insight unique to only him, the Great Wizardo has discerned the 2026 Juggernauts are more like “Jugger Nots” with good players on bad teams and bad players on good teams. Either way, it won’t be much use when Jaimie Hand and the “Black Crick Bird Brains” touch down for their weekend tete-a-tete.

Wizard’s Winners…the Freebirds.
