WEEK 4

Bamboozled

The Freebirds' Jeanty and Smith combined to bamboozle the Sloth Monsters in Week 4 of the BDFL

Sloths get hoodwinked by the Freebirds

HOOVER, AL - The term "bamboozled" means to be tricked, fooled, or confused. It is an informal and somewhat playful word, though the act of being bamboozled can be serious business. The word can also mean to be thrown into a state of confusion. The BDFL leans to the latter. Such is the case with the Georgia Bulldogs when it comes to the Alabama Crimson Tide and college football. Alabama leads the all-time series against Georgia with a 45-26-4 overall record dating back to 1895. The Crimson Tide has won 10 of the last 11 match-ups against the Junkyard Dawgs. The most recent game was played on September 27, 2025 in Athens, Georgia and resulted in a gritty 24-21 vict'ry for the Crimson Tide. This win snapped Georgia's pseudo 33-game home winning streak. Under head coach Kirby Smart, Georgia has a record of 1-7 against Alabama. Alabama's current head coach, Kalen DeBoer is 2-0 against Georgia. The origin of the word "bamboozle" dates back to the early 18th century, with its earliest known use appearing in 1703. The exact origin is somewhat unknown, but many of the language root experts speculate it may be linked to the Scottish word "bombaze" meaning to confound, or perplex. Other wordsmith scholars say it came from the French word "embabouiner" meaning to make a fool of someone. The BDFL leans to the latter. When it first appeared in the English language, it was considered slang by the tea sippers. However, in today's modern American English "bamboozled" is lively and has remained in common usage because of its playful and evocative sound. In Week 4 of the BDFL’s 31st season, a couple of clubs got bamboozled as well. The Bullets fell for the sleight-of-hand from the Dirty Dealers (36-10) down on the Gulf of America and the proverbial Legend of Shades Creek got hoodwinked by the previously winless Freebirds (53-33) at the Hoover Met. Both the Bullets and Sloth Monsters will have a week to blame the officials and get over their bitter bewilderment.

As the bye weeks come into play, a depth player like Kimani Vidal could be vital to your success

As bye weeks come, depth becomes vital

AUDUBON PLACE - In the BDFL, roster depth separates the contenders from the pretenders. This becomes more evident when the bye weeks start rolling in Week 5 of the season. The BDFL season is more like a marathon with hurdles than the 400-meter hurdles. Beginning in Week 5, the NFL will start giving all 32 teams a week off without playing a game. Some weeks it is just two teams off, other weeks it can be up to six teams off with byes. However, the BDFL has never taken a bye week. The blue-collared BDFL believes wholeheartedly in "the next man up" philosophy and you must have some quality depth to adhere to the philosophy. The bye weeks can be challenging, but most all BDFL champions over the last 30 years have leaned on depth to help propel them to the league's title. Therefore, solid depth becomes a competitive advantage during the off week span of the season. The 2025 NFL off weeks can be found at the top of the weekly Excel spreadsheet pages provided by the award-winning Aladdin Scoring System (@$$) and on the BDFL's Schedule page online and here below are the 2025 NFL off weeks with the team's bye teams for each week.
