TITLETOWN - For the record, the BDFL
has never taken an off/bye week in 29 years of existence. That
being said, the NFL has been giving teams one off week during
the regular season for the last 32 years. In 1990, the NFL
re-introduced the "off" week to the regular season schedule,
which it had not had since 1966. Each team played 16 regular
season games over 17 weeks for 31 years and during the 2021
season, the NFL went to 17 games over an 18-week regular season.
Iron Hand, The Commissioner of the BDFL, has predicted on the
record, that the next "off week" move from the National Football
League Players Association (NFLPA) will be two off weeks during
the regular season with 17 games played over a 19 week schedule.
Some
call it an "off" week, others a "bye" week, I think we have gone
back and forth on the name for years in the BDFL, but whatever
you call it, you need to be prepared for it in the BDFL. The NFL
off weeks will start a week earlier this season in Week 5 and
run straight through Week 8. All teams will play in Week 8 and
in Week 12 and will pick back up with off weeks in Weeks 10, 11,
13 and 14. The NFL will be back at full force for Weeks 15-18.
So for eight (8) weeks of the BDFL's 15-game regular season,
you'll need to know which teams are off, so you won't start a
player who has no chance of scoring. This is when and where a
weekly starter routine can be beneficial to the health of your
club. Big Brother may be watching you, but he's not changing
your weekly starters. Here's a short list of the bye weeks and
the teams to stay away from on their off days...
