Iron Hand predicts Trubisky will end up in Chicago
as the Bears latest franchise quarterback candidate |
A look at where the 2017
Ponies may roam
Iron Hand predicts where
the 2017 BDFL Ponies will land in the NFL Draft
TITLETOWN,
AL -
Unlike some years, all 16 BDFL Pony Draft picks should be
selected in this year's NFL Draft. Where these guys end up is
really anybody's guess, so this is where Iron Hand can throw in
his two cents. Some of these picks are based on a team's
particular need (Niners, Lions, Vikings, Titans, Bucs, etc.) while some picks
come from the gut and just feel like the right fits (Trubisky in
Chicago, McCaffrey in Denver, Fournette in Charlotte, Mixon in
Oakland, Westbrook in Miami, etc.) and
some others are just educated guesses based on draft position
and a patterned history of drafting (Eagles, Seahawks, Bills, Giants,
Texans, etc.) The NFL Draft starts Thursday, April 27th and all
eyes will be on the BDFL Pony Class of 2017. We will definitely
see where these Ponies will roam for the next few years and also
see if Iron Hand has any street credibility.

BDFL PONY DRAFT PROGNOSTICATIONS
|
|
1 |
 |
RB - Leonard Fournette CAR –
An inconsistent rushing game cost the Panthers a Super Bowl two
years ago and it caused them to miss the playoffs last year. The
bleeding stops with Fournette in Charlotte. |
|
2 |
 |
RB - Dalvin Cook TB –
The Bucs have been looking for a running game in all the wrong
places. This time they find it in their own backyard as Cook
joins Winston in a Free Shoes University reunion. |
|
3 |
 |
WR
- Mike Williams BUF – The
Bills have alot of needs including a #1 receiver. Williams is
the best in a deep class of quality receivers. If the Bills pass
on Williams at #10, the Saints will not at #11. |
|
4 |
 |
TE - O.J. Howard NYG
– Howard Cross was a tight end
from Alabama who had a nice career with the Giants. This Howard
is the best in this class and would be a nice weapon in the
G-Men's arsenal. |
|
5 |
 |
RB - Christian McCaffrey DEN
– John Elway
knows more about McCaffrey than anybody in the NFL and the
Broncos could use his explosiveness to take some pressure off of
his young quarterbacks. |
|
6 |
 |
RB -
D'Onta Foreman HOU –
Ever since Arian Foster retired, the Texans have been in search
of a decent running game. Foreman may not be the complete answer
in Houston, but it could be a start. NAILED
|
|
7 |
 |
RB - Joe Mixon OAK
– The
Raiders lost Latavius Murray to free agency and will not be
afraid to bring the controversial Mixon into their own
controversy, the move to Las Vegas in a couple of years.
|
|
8 |
 |
WR - Corey Davis DET –
With Calvin Johnson retired and waiting on his enshirement to
Canton, the Lions need Megatron 2.0 now. The local WMU Bronco
will look nice in Hawaiian blue and silver.
|
|
9 |
 |
QB - Deshaun Watson SF – I
don't think John Lynch is an idiot, but he did deliver some big
hits as a missile-seeking safety. With a new coach for few
years, why not deliver him a franchise QB now?
|
|
10 |
 |
RB
- Samaje Perine SEA
– Pete Carroll likes to pound
the rock and he can't count on Eddie Lacy to stay healthy for 16
games, so Perine makes sense in Seattle.
|
|
11 |
 |
WR - John Ross TEN – The
Titans are building the best rushing attack in the NFL with
Mariotta, Murray and Henry. What they need next is a vertical
passing threat to keep every defense honest.
|
|
12 |
 |
WR - Dede Westbrook MIA –
Think Clayton and Duper. Combine Westbook with Stills
and then all you would need is two hacks to play Marino and Shula for the
glory days to come back to Little Habana.
|
|
13 |
 |
QB - Mitch Trubisky CHI –
Trubisky just sounds like a Chicago Bear. Couple this with the
need of a true franchise quarterback in Chitown and I can just
see this Polack in a snow storm at Soldier Field. NAILED
|
|
14 |
 |
RB - Alvin Kamara GB – The
Packers need runningbacks like some teams need a quarterback.
Real bad. Their leading rusher last season was a converted wide
receiver who will need some relief this season.
|
|
15 |
 |
PK - Zane Gonzalez MIN -
The Vikings ran off Walsh during the 2016 season and are in the
market for a long-term solution at kicker. Gonzo is the hot PK
in this draft and should be ready for the kitchen.
|
|
16 |
 |
WR - Chris Godwin PHI -
The Eagles seem to always have plenty of quality receivers. This
is because they draft a lot of receivers and let them compete
for the limited roster spots. Godwin is a good one.
