St.
Mark headed to NOLA
Mark
Ingram
heads the class of ponies in this year's annual BDFL Rolling Rock Pony Draft
stable of studs
AUDUBON PLACE
It may be the year of the quarterback, but in the BDFL it was the year
of the surprises. The BDFL's annual Pony Draft surprisingly finished a
week ahead of its targeted date when the Fairfield PowerSleds got the
action started by picking local hero, Mark Ingram from Alabama. The
Fritz Blitz pulled a Benedict Arnold to "keep in down home cuz" with Cam
Newton with the 2nd pick and the Pony Express was off to the races. The
local hero theme continued as the Bullets plucked the pride of LA, Julio Jones and the
Bootleggers kept it going with the "Big Hog" D.J. Williams, the
draft's first big surprise. The Gamblers, Slovaks, Grenadiers and
Wizards kept the big surprises coming with Dalton, McElroy, Henery and
White respectively. The rest of the picks were academic and predictable
with the Warriors, Wildcats, Monsters, 'Nauts and the others
picking on cue.
Mark
Ingram was the top pick in the BDFL's 2011 Pony Draft
Here are this years
2011 BDFL Rolling Rock Pony Draft picks and where they are headed
Fairfield PowerSleds
#1 |
RB - Mark Ingram ALA
The 2009 Heisman Trophy winner should be a durable
back in the NFL.
Will be a league leader for the rusher needy "Who
Dats". |
Druid City Blitz
#2 |
QB - Cam Newton AUB
Newton is already better than half the starters in the NFL
now. Too much talent for the Panthers to pass on, but he's still a
wildcard.
Benton Bullets
#3 |
WR - Julio Jones ALA Jones will be
a better pro than college player. An athletic freak, Jones makes
great sense
in Atlanta opposite Roddy White.
North Canton Bootleggers
#4 |
TE - D.J. Williams ARK D.J. is
as athletic as he is smooth. A wide load who is match-up problem off the
bus. Fits well on a passing team like the
Packers.
Gulf Coast Gamblers
#5 |
QB - Andy Dalton TCU Dalton is a proven winner and the Bengals needed to draft a proven winner
at QB and somebody who wants to be in Cincinnati. |
Black Creek
Wooden Warriors
#6 | WR - A.J.
Green UGA
A.J. may be the most
gifted receiver to enter the league since Randy Moss
entered in '98. The Bengals need a new
franchise WR.
Silver Lakes Sloth Monsters
#7 | RB - Mikel
Leshoure ILL
Leshoure is next in
line of productive running backs from Illinois.
Lions go to the Fightin' Illini for
some valued depth at halfback. |
Western Hills Wildcats
#8 |
QB - Blaine Gabbert MIZ
Gabbert is talented, but raw and will
need some seasoning. Makes a great quarterback of the future
for the Los Angeles Jaguars. |
Jugtown
Juggernauts
#9 | RB -
DeMarco Murray OU Murray is a stud in
the Peterson mode and could be the grand prize of this draft. Cowboys
need stability at the running back spot. |
Oak Mountain
Fightin' Slovaks
#10 |
QB - Greg McElroy ALA
A reach by the Slovaks, but GMc will make an NFL roster and could play
some in 2011.
Will try to make the
Jets as a back-up first. |
Mineral Springs Grenadiers
#11 |
PK - Alex Henery NEB Henery is the best
kicker prospect to come out in years and the Eagles may not be ready to
pay David Akers free agent mullah. |
Brookside
Dogs
#12 | RB -
Ryan Williams VT
Williams could be NFL ready and start in the right situation. That
situation could be in Arizona, if Beanie Wells can't hack it. |
Pasco County Wizards
#13 |
RB - Johnny White UNC A true sleeper that slept under everybody's radar except the crystal ball of the Wizard.
Bills are bad for
White and Wizards.
Smoke Rise Woosiers
#14 | QB - Ryan Mallet ARK
Mallet may be a muscle head, but Petreno
has him as ready as possible. Patriots cast their long-term QB future on the big
angry Hog. |
Magic City Mayors
#15 |
RB - Jordan Todman UC Todman came out early to showcase his
talents at the next level and can be a game changer. Another lethal
weapon for the Bolts.
Riverchase
Cheetahs
#16 | RB -
Jacquizz Rodgers OSU Rodgers has all the right moves and is NFL ready
coming from Mike Riley's pro style offense. Helps with RB depth in
Atlanta. |
