THE BIG STORY

The BDFL to honor the AFL during their 50th Anniversary year during Week 7 action

As the AFL celebrates their 50th Anniversary this season, the BDFL thought it was only fitting that the league honor the pioneers of the first successful AFL which started in 1960. Each BDFL team will embody an old AFL team with some small AFC exceptions to keep the theme as pure as possible. Week 7 will feature some classic AFL match-ups such as the Broncos vs. Texans, Dolphins vs. Chiefs, Bengals vs. Browns. Plus some interesting home sites have been chosen as the Patriots sample Birmingham's Legion Field and George Blanda and the Oilers play the first AFL indoor game in Houston at the Astrodome against the hated Steelers. It will be LA vs. New York as the LA Chargers trek to Shea Stadium to land the Jets. It is sure to be an exciting week of action as the BDFL honors the old high-flying AFL.

The 2009 Shiner

Bock Mock Draft

Adrian Peterson projects as the top draft choice in the 2009 Shiner Bock Mock Draft

SHINER, TX – Here in Lavaca County, life is laid back and the beer is fresh and smooth since Shiner Bock, a dark Slovak style beer that is distributed all over the world, is brewed down here at the Spoetzl Brewery, the oldest independent brewery in Texas. This is why the BDFL experts gather here for the annual sabbatical to drink beer, relax and sift through who they pick will be the top drafts for the upcoming BDFL Genuine Draft in late August. After a good long week in southeast Texas soaking up the rays and downing dark Slovak beer, these experts have come up with the top 32 players for the BDFL draft. FOXBORO - The battle for the Grand Daddy in 2009 will start with a rematch of last year's BDCS semi-finals classic as the 2008 BDFL Champion Benton Bullets will have to ride bare back from Lowndes County up to Blount County to defend their title against the Hayden Haymakers in an early season Red Neck Division slugfest. Other games highlighting Week 1 include the Cool Springs Grenadiers at the Gulf Coast  Gamblers in an Home Run Derby Bowl rematch at Hiller Park in Biloxi, the Frank House Memorial Classic as the Sloth Monsters venture to Black Creek to invade the Wooden Warriors reservation.
