|
1966 was Desolation Row as historic changes led to a new era of pro football TITLETOWN - In 1966 most of the games were still televised in black and white. The goal posts were on the goal line and all face masks were gray. The NFL was still the "big boys", but the AFL was gaining ground evidenced by both league champions meeting in a season ending game (Later to become known as the Super Bowl). In 2014 the BDFL will take a look back at the significance 1966 had on all of football with their annual Throwback Week in Week #6. Sayers, Olsen, Meredith, Starr, Butkus, Taylor and Nitschke were the stars in 1966. |
