Pony Draft Prospectus

Andrew Luck could be the lucky football Card chosen during the BDFL's annual 2012 Rolling Rock Pony Draft

NO MAN'S LAND - In the BDFL, we draft college players into our league before the NFL. We've been doing so for years now. This ingenio us idea came from the BDFL's own Bullet Hand and has been copied by fantasy league's all over the world, but it did start at the BDFL. The Pony Draft lends a "hot stove" element to the league's off-season and provides the league's under performers a shot of adrenaline heading into the new season. With the quarterback starved NFL, look for the QB needy teams like the Colts, Redskins, Dolphins, Seahawks, Texans, Bears, Chiefs and Cowboys to raid this year's crop of talented signal callers including Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Ryan Tannehill, Kellen Moore, Brandon Weldon and Case Keenum. Other ponies to go early in the fray include Trent Richardson, Justin Blackmon and Alshon Jeffrey. This year's Pony Draft is scheduled to start the week of April 23rd and should be over by April 26th when the NFL takes their turn.

Luck is a lock to be the NFL's first pick, but what about the BDFL?

The Top 16 for the 2012 BDFL Rolling Rock Pony Draft, according to the BDFL media experts...

GLENDALE, AZ - JANUARY 02: Andrew Luck #12 of the Stanford Cardinal looks to pass the ball against the Oklahoma State Cowboys during the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on January 2, 2012 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

#1 | QB - Andrew Luck STN Luck is a lock to go to the Colts with the first pick in the NFL Draft, but will he go the Grenadiers with the first pick in the BDFL's Pony Draft?

WACO, TX - DECEMBER 03: Robert Griffin III #10 of the Baylor Bears looks to pass during a game against the Texas Longhorns at Floyd Casey Stadium on December 3, 2011 in Waco, Texas.

#2 | QB - Robert Griffin III BAY Griffin is going to the Redskins with the second overall pick in the NFL Draft, but how will he fair in the tougher BDFL war rooms?

#3 | RB - Trent Richardson ALA – T-Rich is the best all-around back to enter the draft since LaDainian Tomlinson. The Bucs can't pass on the Pride of  Pensacola at #5 overall.

STILLWATER, OK - NOVEMBER 5: Wide receiver Justin Blackmon #81of the Oklahoma State Cowboys looks looks for an opening in the second half against the Kansas State Wildcats on November 5, 2011 at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Oklahoma State defeated Kansas State 52-45.

#4 | WR - Justin Blackmon OKS The Rams are gambling Blackmon will still be around for the sixth pick overall. If not the Rams, look for the Panthers to nab him for Cam.

#5 | QB - Ryan Tannehill A&M After losing out on Luck and Griffin, Pete Carroll goes with the strong-armed Tannehill to be his franchise quarterback of the future in Seattle.

#6 | RB - David Wilson VT – Wilson is the next best rusher behind Richardson and will go to a team that needs some big time help at the position like the Lions.

#7 | WR - Alshon Jeffery SC  – Jeffery could be a monster at the next level with his size, speed and hands. Just the kind of weapon that the Jaguars need as a #1 WR.

#8 | QB - Brandon Weeden OKU Older than Aaron Rodgers, Weeden should be mature enough to start in the NFL now and Dolphins needed a starter yesterday.

#9 | WR - Michael Floyd ND Floyd is being overshadowed in this draft by Blackmon and Jeffery, but he could be the best receiver in the draft and the Niners need him.

#10 | WR - Kendall Wright BAY Wright was RG3's main squeeze at Baylor and definitely helped his Heisman campaign. We think he can help some more Bears next.

#11 | RB - Doug Martin BSU Martin is an under the radar type back, but he projects well and should give a running back needy team like the Browns some instant help.
Lamar Miller - Miami v Florida State #12 | RB - Lamar Miller MIA Miller could be the sleeper in this year's draft and could very well end up with the Cardinals that will need some dependable RB depth.

#13 | RB - LaMichael James/ORE James is not very high on many team's draft boards, but neither was Darren Sproles. Look for the Chargers to right their wrong.

Dwayne Allen

#14 | TE - Dwayne Allen/CLM With a premium on tight ends in the league today, Allen is a safe bet for production for a team like the Giants that will use him.

#15 | QB - Case Keenum HOU – Keenum is a wildcard, but a gunslinger. Could be a good fit for the local Texans as they try to fill more quality depth at the QB position.

#16 | QB - Kellen Moore BSU Not overly impressive from a physical standpoint, but Moore knows how to win and could help a team like the Chiefs in the immediate future.
